Website Design for a New Church Focused on Community & Growth
Type: Website Design + Ongoing Media Support
Industry: Church / Nonprofit
Audience: New visitors, families, church members, and the surrounding community
The Vine is a growing church plant that I am personally part of, which made this project especially meaningful. Having served in church media for years, I care deeply about helping ministries communicate clearly, welcome new visitors well, and create digital spaces that reflect the heart of their community. I designed The Vine’s website to serve as a practical ministry tool—one that supports connection, clarity, and ongoing engagement both on Sundays and throughout the week.
This website was created not just as an online presence, but as a foundation the church can continue to build on as it grows.
The Goal
The primary goal was to create a welcoming, easy-to-navigate website that helps first-time visitors feel comfortable before they ever walk through the doors. The site needed to clearly communicate who The Vine is, what to expect on a Sunday, and how people can take their next step—whether that’s planning a visit, joining a group, or listening to sermons during the week.
At the same time, the website needed to be simple to maintain for a growing church team and flexible enough to support future ministry expansion.
The Approach
Welcoming, Ministry-Focused Design
The overall design prioritizes warmth, clarity, and approachability. Clean layouts, intentional spacing, and inviting visuals were used to reflect the church’s culture while keeping the experience simple and distraction-free for new visitors.
Planning Center Integration
The website is fully integrated with Planning Center to create a seamless experience for both visitors and members. The Groups button links to a dedicated page displaying all active groups through Planning Center’s directory, making it easy to explore and join. Giving and forms—such as Plan a Visit—open as Planning Center pop-ups, allowing users to complete actions without leaving the website.
Sermons & Podcast Setup
The sermon archive is built using a Squarespace blog structure that functions as a clean media library. Each sermon page includes an embedded YouTube video of the full service along with an audio-only sermon file. The audio automatically posts to connected podcast platforms, making weekly distribution simple while expanding the church’s reach beyond Sunday.
Mobile-Friendly & Easy to Update
Because many visitors access the site from their phones, mobile usability was a key priority. The site is optimized for smaller screens, and the backend is structured so staff and volunteers can easily update sermons, events, and content without technical overwhelm.
The Outcome
The Vine now has a website that feels aligned with its mission and welcoming to newcomers. It serves as a clear, functional hub for connection, communication, and discipleship—supporting both in-person ministry and digital engagement throughout the week.
This project reflects my heart for helping churches create thoughtful, practical online spaces that genuinely serve their people.
